the * dance session band project* started for the session with the dance duo symbol-ism who represents yoyogi, tokyo known as the base of yygrec. the band is composed by three members. daisuke fujiwara (sax), well versed in detroit techno, got attention when he was playing in his original band �phat�, which sublimated the improvisation style of techno and jazz in 90�s. after that he has played with jeff mills and also with underground resistance. masatsugu hattori (drums) who has been playing across the genre, has appeared on the fighting-style music event boycott rhythm machine versus live. he has also played and gone on a duo tour with mc sibitt from a hiphop crew origami. keigo iwanami (bass) is playing in a club jazz band sleepwalker, a punk band midori, oncenth trio, zycos and more. he keeps playing in various fields of music like jazz, pop, punk, improvisation music etc. in this project, they creates �physical� dance session music inspired by symbol-ism, and reflects their each musical backgrounds of jazz, techno, house, hiphop, punk, improvisation and so on.

a sort of cabaret voltaire for the iphone age, drooids are a collective of three multimedia artists who produce electronic music using improvisational, often anarchic methods. utilizing a hodgepodge of gear both old and new, and not-wholly-quantized, they create a collage of sounds that verges on chaos before slipping back into a dark yet weirdly club-oriented beat. their live shows usually feature multiple guest collaborators, costumes, sculptural props and performative antics. for their debut release on lse we tried to capture the spirit of these shows and recorded over 11 hours of drooids improvising in the studio of the course of one week. those 11 sprawling hours then got edited down to these 4 snapshots, mastered and pressed in a limited edition of 200 (40 with original gelatin silver prints) for our 6th vinyl release.

french composer and multi-instrumentalist pierre bastien delivers the latest entry into morphines increasingly diverse catalog. active for over four decades, bastien is best known for building automated orchestras, and his most recent lp, machinations, was released on aphex twin s rephlex label in 2012.
for this latest work, bastien recycled components of his silent motors live set and assembled new mechanical organisms�using amplified meccano parts, motors, fans, rattles, paper, and nails�to generate rhythmic scaffolding. live instrumentals, from prepared trumpets to the african kundi harp, javanese rabab, sanza, electric harpsichord, bass, drums, and gongs, were then superimposed on top.

cristi cons and vlad caia are household names that really need no further introduction. their dj sets are techno stories well told and their live act is already making waves worldwide. amphia is first and foremost the platform they use to broadcast their finest works. such is the case of sideways, their latest lp, containing more than a dozen tracks coming your way trilogy style.
the first part reveals six tracks on two heavyweight discs. although most of the tracks fit the usual sit musical approach, the listener is greeted with a wide pallete of rhythms. assemble is an atmospheric dub infused with violins and orchestral echoes. permissive starts things up with a playful bass progression and continues with lush pads and cryptic voices. brooklyn�s deep moody synths and monster groove render it broken poetry at it�s best. for sure it will resemble those early danceable mornings. on a more joyful manner we are presented next with bootcamp s sturdy baseline and playful modulated vocals.

powder is a young producer raised in rural japan, now living in tokyo. she wakes daily at 6am, squeezes onto a packed subway and commutes to a bland office building where her day is consumed by the electronics industry � a banal world of blank stares, uniforms, data entry and soliciting phone calls. she cherishes her lunch break, a solitary hour of astral projection where her daydreams cull inspiration for another life, her nocturnal routine. at 9pm the day closes, as her co-workers flock to the izakaya for beers, powder rushes to her micro home-studio to exorcize her daily demons, constructing a tropical temple to house her immaculate vision. she slaves away, unabashed until sunrise, when her routine begins again, however, todays lunch break is an escape into her headphones where she will revisit her soundtrack inspired by lights, colors, hometown memories, and the imaginary worlds where the fruits of her labour will live.

tom middleton and mark pritchards 76:14 is one of the 90s most acclaimed electronic albums, while a cast of aliases (reload, jedi knights and more) also orbited the project. their last record came out in 1997, and although there was a live reunion in 2010, the new material we were promised is yet to emerge. pritchards nowhere to be seen on this remix of duskys skin deep (its middleton flying solo), but its still an occasion. according to dusky, we knew we wanted someone special and we knew we wanted someone who would get to the heart of the melodies and textures in the breakdown. tom has totally delivered, creating something that draws on the heritage of the ambient sound, but also feels current and modern.
